My day job is as a writer for a university where part of my role is writing event speeches for executives, students, and alumni. But a big part of my life that brings me meaning is supporting others. My hope is eulogy writing will bring together both elements.

How will the eulogy writing process work?
My process for writing the eulogy will be the same as I use in my day job to write speeches:
- We’ll sit down on Zoom for an hour (or longer) to talk about who you’re writing the speech for, stories you’d like to share, and moments you’d wish to highlight.
- From a transcript of this call, I will compress the highlights of what you’ve said into a draft speech that you can either use immediately or as the starting draft for you to work on.
- I’d be on hand from delivering this first draft onwards if you want any advice or support before making the speech.
When you say “FREE” what do you mean?
I mean, I won’t charge you anything for my help and there will be zero obligation to give me a tip or anything else for that matter. I will probably remind you when we first correspond that this is free, but after that I most likely won’t mention it again.

Hi, I’m Dan Baird, you’re currently on my portfolio website. The site includes samples of my writing. I am looking to try out eulogy writing as I have an inkling it will be fulfilling.
Couldn’t I just use AI?
Yes, but speaking with me will have a couple of benefits. Firstly, I will be there to support you while we talk through the ideas you want to include in the eulogy. Hopefully I do a better job of that than AI will. Secondly, since the final piece is based verbatim on what you’ve said to me, it will be in your own words, and hopefully much more personal.
