The strategy for this impact report was to reintroduce UW Bothell to our community. A designed publication hadn’t been sent out in around five years, so we chose stories to illustrate the unique strengths of the university.
I wrote around half of the final piece while also managing various elements of the project, such as giving feedback to our designers, scheduling photographers to meet with participants, and researching information for a timeline.
After the piece was completed, I tasked our video producer with creating the following video to showcase the piece on social media. (Those are my hands turning the pages!)
While the piece was a collaborative effort, my primary role was as a writer.
Pages I wrote for the piece included:
- A timeline of milestones from UW Bothell’s 35 year history.
- A story about the philosophy of sustainability used by the university’s grounds team.
I also wrote profiles on:
- Yuying, a first-generation student focusing on her growth during university.
- Scott, a donor and alumni who was inspired to give by faculty who he believed were the rock stars of computer science.
- Angela, an alumni who gained confidence through her relationship with a mentor.
- Jason, a faculty member focused on disability education.
- Stephanie, a staff member who passed away and had an endowment created in her honor.
