Stewardship 101 was an online course I created for Advancement staff at the University of Washington.
The idea behind the course came about as part of my work organizing a roundtable group for staff with stewardship duties.
From welcoming new members to the group, I realized many were early in their careers and didn’t know the basics of fundraising, let alone what stewardship was. That lack of knowledge got in the way of them understanding how the roundtable could be a benefit.
The aim of the course was to show the basics of fundraising and how stewardship happened across the university. After the course was created, it was offered to new roundtable members as part of their onboarding, it was also offered to all Advancement staff (600+ people) as part of the internal learning platform.
I wrote the entire course, along with creating graphics, sourcing photographs, and project managing the review process. Finally, I created the course and tested it using Articulate 360.
